In this course, we focus on balance postures and inversions. Balance postures are primarily about playfully exploring and strengthening coordination. Inversions are various positions where the heart and hips are above the head. Inverted and balancing postures require body awareness and strength to hold the body in an extended position against gravity.
If you've been wanting to learn Crow Pose, Headstand, or Handstand for a while but don't know where to start, then this course is for you. The course is aimed at beginners in inverted or balance postures who already have some experience in yoga or other movement practices and are looking for new challenges.
The class consists of various exercises from yoga, acrobatics, and movement. At the beginning of the class, we will do preparatory warm-up exercises, including strengthening exercises for the wrists and your core. The goal of the class is to learn, solidify, and train various balance or inverted postures (both static and in motion) with appropriate preparatory exercises and alternatives for more challenging positions. At the end, there will be a cool-down and a final relaxation.
The course will be taught in German (English is also possible). You’ll need comfortable clothing, a yoga mat (a limited number are available on site), and optionally a yoga block (some are also available on site).
Note: Due to a new locking system at the Jakob School, we kindly ask course participants to arrive at the entrance gate about 10 minutes before the course begins and wait for the instructors. Once the course starts, the gate will be locked and it will no longer be possible to join the class late.
